Lawrence Road Fire Co. firefighters responded to an accident involving an overturned car on the evening of Thursday, August 11, 2005.
The accident on Anthony Lane, near Bunker Hill Road, occurred when the driver of a Plymouth Acclaim lost control and struck a parked Ford Excursion sport utility vehicle.
The Acclaim then rolled over and came to rest on its driver's side.
It was 7:10 p.m. when Box 22-20 was transmitted and firefighters from Lawrence Road and Slackwood fire companies were dispatched, along with a Lawrence First Aid Squad ambulance and Capital Health System paramedics.
Chief Wayne Hannon and Assistant Chief Chris Pangaldi responded directly to the scene. Responding with Rescue 22 were Capt. Shaun Dlabik, Ff. Joseph Dlabik Jr., Ff. R.J. Laird, Ff. Steve Hodgdon, and Ff. Ryan Dlabik.
Slackwood Safety Officer Jack Oakley was the first firefighter to arrive. He found that the car's driver had already crawled from the wreckage and had suffered only minor injuries, including a foot laceration.
Because there was no entrapment, all apparatus was recalled with the exception of Rescue 22.
The patient was treated on scene by Squad 129 personnel and then transported by the ambulance to a local hospital for additional care.
Rescue 22's crew remained on the scene while the car was removed by a tow truck. Firefighters also used a 1.75-inch hoseline to wash the patient's blood off the roadway.
