2637 Lawrence Road,
During the evening of Tuesday, November 1, 2005, Lawrence Road Fire Co. volunteers helped Lawrenceville Fire Co. fight a working car fire.
It was 6:07 p.m. when Lawrenceville Fire Co. (Station 23) was dispatched on Box 23-30 for a reported vehicle fire in front of 2637 Lawrence Road.
Lawrenceville Chief Dave Burns arrived on scene at 6:09 p.m. and reported that he had a car fully-involved in flames.
At 6:12 p.m., Burns notified Mercer County Central Communications Center that he had a possible exposure problem because the burning vehicle was close to a building. He requested that an engine from Lawrence Road Fire Co. (Station 22) be dispatched to assist.
Station 22 was officially dispatched at 6:13 p.m.
Rescue 23 responded at 6:13 p.m. Meanwhile, Engine 22 responded at 6:14 p.m. with Capt. Michael Byrd in command, Ff. Joseph Dlabik Sr. driving, and a crew that included Ff. Michael Trimble, Ff. R.J. Laird, Ff. Martin Burch, Ff. Ryan Dlabik, and Ff. Susan Steinmann.
Chief Wayne Hannon also responded in Car 22 at 6:14 p.m.
Rescue 23 arrived on scene at 6:14 p.m. and its crew started to attack the fire. Engine 22 and Hannon arrived on scene a few minutes later.
Assistant Chief Chris Pangaldi, Capt. Shaun Dlabik, Rescue Capt. Andrew Fosina and Ff. Brian Laue all had been in the area and stopped to see if they could help in any way.
At 6:22 p.m., Burns reported that the bulk of the fire had been knocked down.
Joseph Dlabik Sr. used a 3-inch hose to provide Engine 22's tank water to Rescue 23. He also used Engine 22's lights to illuminate the scene. Trimble and Laird popped open the hood of the burned car to check for extension, while the rest of Engine 22's crew assisted Rescue 23's crew overhauling the remains of the car.
Engine 22 was back in quarters at Station 22 by 6:47 p.m.
