On Sunday, February 26, 2006, Lawrence Road Fire Co. members were called out to extinguish a brush fire in the woods between Interstate 95 and a house on West Long Drive.
It was 12:29 p.m. when Lawrenceville Fire Co. (Station 23) was dispatched by Mercer County Central Communications Center to check a reported smoke condition on Denow Road in the area of the Saint Lawrence Rehabilitation Center.
Telesquirt 23 responded at 12:33 p.m. and started to investigate.
At 12:37 p.m. Lawrence Township police notified Mercer County Central that the smoke was actually from a brush fire at the end of West Long Drive.
As West Long Drive is in Lawrence Township Fire District #2, Mercer County Central dispatched Lawrence Road Fire Co. at 12:38 p.m.
Deputy Chief Chris Pangaldi responded in Car 22-1 at 12:39 p.m. and immediately asked Telesquirt 23 to respond in to West Long Drive to assist until the size of the fire was determined.
Telesquirt 22 signed on radio at 12:40 p.m. with Capt. Michael Ratcliffe in command, Ff. Chris Longo driving, and a crew that included Ff. Joseph Dlabik Jr. and Ff. Evan Kutzin.
Chief Wayne Hannon also responded in Car 22 but his response time was not logged.
At 12:41 p.m. Pangaldi arrived on scene and reported that he had an area of brush about 10-feet by 10-feet in size on fire.
Determining that Telesquirt 22ís crew would be able to handle the fire alone, Pangaldi recalled Telesquirt 23 at 12:43 p.m.
Telesquirt 22 arrived on location at 12:43 p.m. and its crew went in service with a booster line to hose down the area of smoldering leaves, branches, tree stumps and rubbish.
Hannon arrived at 12:46 p.m.
After thoroughly soaking down the area, Telesquirt 22ís crew refilled their tank from a nearby hydrant. Telesquirt 22 cleared the scene at 1:03 p.m. and was in quarters by 1:10 p.m.
