STRUCTURE FIRE

603 Scotch Road,
Hopewell Township



On Monday, October 9, 2006, a crew of Lawrence Road Fire Co. volunteers responded to a house fire at 603 Scotch Road in Hopewell Township.

It was 12:28 p.m. when Pennington Borough Fire Co. and Telesquirt 53 from Union-Titusville Fire Co. were dispatched on Box 51-50. As he was still en route to the scene, Chief 51 reported he had a heavy column of smoke in the air and requested a full first alarm.

At 12:30 p.m. Mercer County Central Communication Center dispatched West Trenton Engine 33, Lawrence Road Rescue 22, Hopewell Borough Tanker 52, and Union-Titusville Tanker 53.

Rescue 22 responded at 12:36 p.m. with Ff. Michael Byrd in command, Ff. Richard Farletta driving, and Ff. R.J. Laird, Ff. Evan Kutzin and Ff. Adam Rivera as crew.

Rescue 22 arrived at 12:47 p.m. Initially, Rescue 22ís crew assumed rapid intervention team duties but then went to work inside the dwelling.

Investigators determined that the fire started in the kitchen. Much of the house was damaged before the blaze was brought under control at 1:36 p.m.

The homeís residents were transported to an area hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.

Apparatus that operated on scene were: Engine 51, Telesquirt 53, Ladder Tower 51, Tanker 51, Engine 33, Tanker 52, Rescue 22, Rescue 51 and Tanker 53. Rescue 22 was released from the scene at 2:48 p.m. and was back in quarters by 3:02 p.m.
