Lawrence Road Fire Co. members were among the dozens of firefighters who responded to a house fire in Hamilton Township on Saturday, October 28, 2006.

It was 7:32 p.m. when Mercer County Central Communications Center transmitted Box 14-40 for the fire at 536 Rutgers Avenue.

Hamilton District 4 Chief Frank Kohut arrived on scene by 7:35 p.m. to find heavy fire showing from the attached two-car garage of a large two-story house under construction. Kohut immediately requested the balance of the first alarm, which resulted in the dispatch of Engine 12-1 from Mercerville Fire Co. and Snorkel 21 from Slackwood Fire Co. at 7:38 p.m.

Rescue 22 responded at 7:35 p.m. with Assistant Chief Shaun Dlabik in command, Ff. Charles Commini driving, and a crew of Ff. Adam Rivera, Ff. Theresa Androvett, Ff. Evan Kutzin, Ff. R.J. Laird, and Ff. Mark Lenarski Jr.

Rescue 22ís crew set up on Side A as RIT, as other crews mounted an aggressive interior attack with multiple hoselines.

Ultimately, the bulk of the fire in the garage area was quickly knocked down and the blaze was declared under control at 8:08 p.m.

One firefighter reportedly suffered minor burns to his face around the seal of his SCBA mask. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
