During the early morning hours of Friday, December 15, 2006, two crews worth of Lawrence Road Fire Co. volunteers responded to a working fire on the balcony of the apartment at 2624 Town Court North.

The blaze in the in the Avalon Run apartment complex near Quaker Bridge Mall was reported at 4:31 a.m. by a resident who awoke to a loud noise and looked outside to see flames burning on the balcony of her second-floor apartment. The noise the woman heard was believed to be a table crashing through the burned floor of the balcony.

Lawrence Township Police Officer Joseph Radlinsky, the first emergency responder to arrive, used a portable fire extinguisher from his police car, and then buckets of water from a tap in the apartment, to keep flames from spreading beyond the balcony until firefighters arrived and stretched a hose to douse the remaining fire.
Damage was contained to the balcony and adjacent vinyl siding. There were no injuries and the residents were allowed to stay in the apartment after the fire was out.

Among the apparatus that responded to the blaze were Lawrence Road’s Engine 22 and Rescue 22.

Engine 22 was commanded by Capt. Michael Byrd, driven by Ff. Joseph Dlabik Sr., and crewed by Ff. Joseph Dlabik Jr., Ff. Chris Dlabik and Ff. Ryan Dlabik.

Rescue 22 was commanded by Ff. Charles Commini Sr., driven by Ff. Ed Budzinski, and crewed by Ff. Evan Kutzin and Ff. Adam Rivera.
